St Hildeburgh’s Church

St Hildeburgh’s Church
May 22, 2010 Administrator

St Hildeburgh’s Church is one of two Grade II Statutory Listed Buildings in the Kings Gap area. Designed by Edmund Kirby and constructed of hard red brick, the church is prominently located at the junction of King’s Gap and Stanley Road at the focus of the conservation area.

Its long curving boundary wall helps create a triangular urban space bordered on its other sides by the notable but unlisted buildings of the Green Lodge and King’s Gap Court Hotels. Set back from the junction in extensive grounds, its relatively plain if not austere appearance is alleviated by the presence of mature pine trees on the Stanley Road frontage and the presence of a notable War Memorial.
