BLUEOAK APPEAL FOR NEW DEVELOPMENT AT WIRRAL POINT DISMISSED
The Planning Inspectorate at Bristol has dismissed the appeal by local developers Blueoak Estates against the Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for the large contemporary block of flats at Wirral Point which overlooks the River Dee and Red Rocks. The powerful and comprehensive ruling can be seen here but suffice to say the important principles of conservation and protection of the Meols Drive Conservation Area have been upheld and perhaps even strengthened. This is very good news for Hoylake and all the residents, Hoylake Vision and the Save Red Rocks campaigners who argued against the development. Well done all!
Blueoak still has a second application submitted for a similar development of the same site but to a more traditional design which the Planning Department must now consider. It is, though, hard to see how this alternative plan can overcome the arguments presented by the Council and supported by the Inspectorate in making their ruling.
